We represent employees only. We value getting well-deserved funds into the pockets of working Canadians, and we like protecting their rights.
For non-unionized employees, we assist virtually anyone, assuming there’s no conflict, and we are competent in the matter.
For unionized employees, we can assist in the background with providing legal information and guidance, but we may not be able to represent you, depending on your collective agreement.
Severance Negotiations
We represent employees in all types of severance negotiations including:
- Termination without cause
- Termination for cause
- Wrongful dismissal (provincially-regulated employees)
- Constructive dismissal
- Unjust dismissal (federally-regulated employees)
Litigation
When a pre-litigation negotiation is not successful, we represent clients through the mediation and litigation process. In particular, we represent clients at the Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court, Ontario Court of Appeal, Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, Canadian Human Rights Commission, Canada Industrial Relations Board, Ontario Labour Relations Board and Small Claims Court.
Medical Leave and Disability
We want to make sure employees feel supported when they need a medical leave from work. We can help by coaching you through the process, helping you correspond with your employer and insurance provider, and dealing with any medical updates the employer requests.
We can also help support you in exiting the workplace when continuing work after your medical leave is not feasible.
Human Rights
We assist people who are dealing with discrimination or a failure to accommodate at work. We are often able to negotiate settlements for clients dealing with these issues. If negotiations are unsuccessful, we represent clients at the Human Rights Tribunal and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
Offer Reviews
We help review, advise and negotiate new offers of employment or self-employment. We recommend having your contracts reviewed before you sign them so that you can understand your rights and obligations as an employee.
